Radiant Barrier Application

When weatherizing your house, and becoming energy efficient radiant barriers make an enormous difference.  Applications for radiant barriers to be most efficient differ from climate to climate.  It is important to know the difference as a consumer.  Cooler climates with less sunlight require an application that lays the radiant barriers over the top of the insulation in the attic.  This allows a house to keep cold air out while retaining the warmth within the house.

Radiant barriers in warmer or hot climates, such as Phoenix, have an application that reflects radiant heat up to 97%.  Instead of allowing heat from the sun to come through the roof, it is applied to the attic roof.  By using this application, you increase the radiant heat reflection and DECREASE upstairs room temperatures by as much as 10 degrees.
